Top New Features and Updates- AutoCAD Civil 3D 2023
Civil 3D 2023 is the latest release of Civil 3D, offering many improvements over its predecessor including a brand-new user interface, enhanced functionality, and improved performance.
Let’s check out the new updated and key features Autodesk Civil 3D 2023 has to offer:
Grading Optimization (GO)
Learn about new features in the latest release of Autodesk Grading Optimization 2023. Given that Grading Optimization is one of the best new tools for Autodesk Civil 3D in a very long time, we are certain that there will be a tonne more information and updates in the future.
Revival of non-colinear segments in Civil 3D 2023 – Feature lines frequently overlapped and were returned as “colinear feature lines” in earlier iterations of the software when the optimized surface was supplied to Civil 3D. The number of feature lines a customer must manage, and the drawing instability both decreased in 2023 when feature lines are returned as non-colinear.
Enhanced Convergence and Validation Graphs – Customers can use this information to track the development and effectiveness of the optimization thanks to these graphs. The graphs have been improved to offer more visibility and more beneficial support throughout the optimization process.
Help Center – This new interface gives users access to user assistance resources such as the GO help system, basic workflow support, tutorials, and sample documents.
Pressure Pipe Network
Learn about enhancements to pressure networks. Some customer-requested enhancements are also added to the pressure pipe network in Civil 2023 which include:
When a pipe run profile's offset style is set to cut length, fewer PVIs are added to the profile, only being inserted at bends and cut lengths.
When editing a pipe run and the Offset Style is set to Cut Length, it is now possible to break a pressure pipe at a PVI point in profile view.
The option to follow various profiles in a pipe run has been added. The Reference Profile column, which takes the place of the Dynamic column, is where this feature is located on the Overrides tab of the Pipe Run Profile Settings dialogue box. This function allows you to design a station range that adheres to a layout profile.
Performance Enhancements
Learn about performance enhancements in Civil 3D.
Section views and sample line editing: Addressed performance issues with corridor section views, including known issues with corridor feature lines, pipe networks, and quantity takeoff in section views. Draw operation results are cached so they are not recreated each time other content within the section view is updated. Sample line editing will be 20% faster on average.
COGO points: Improved the performance of creating COGO points from corridors in drawings that contain section views.
Event Viewer: Increased overall efficiency of the Event Viewer. The previous performance of the Event Viewer database and its results dialog box had been impacting large numbers of functions in Civil 3D. Previously, the more events there were in the Event Viewer, the slower the process would become. The progressive slowdown is resolved.
AutoCAD graphics system: AutoCAD 2023 includes a new cross platform 3D graphics system, leveraging all the power of modern GPUs and multi-core CPUs to offer a smooth navigation experience for much larger drawings. The system variable that controls this is off by default in Civil 3D.
Project Explorer Enhancements
The following updates have been made to Project Explorer for Civil 3D 2023.
The 2023 version adds even more capability to reporting and tables by enabling the display of quantity totals for rows and columns as well as customized remarks. These values are shown in the Object tab and report when you enable the Total Cell setting
By setting the Total Cell to yes in the Object Sets, you can display the totals row for AutoCAD tables. The Edit Table Styles feature gives you complete control over the text size and row heights for tables
Project Explorer's table functionality has continued to expand since its introduction. Project
Explorer for Civil 3D 2023 makes the table tools even more powerful, adding capabilities to:
Add custom text summaries or notes at the bottom of AutoCAD tables and tables in reports.
Add total (sum) rows to AutoCAD tables and reports. Total (sum) rows can also be displayed in the Project Explorer window using an appropriately formatted Layout Style.
Set row heights in AutoCAD tables to a specific custom value.
These new features are configurable from a series of Layout Style and Table Style enhancements. Furthermore, the inclusion of "total row" support in the user interface allows certain quantities to be monitored dynamically as design changes are applied in Civil 3D.
AutoCAD Civil 3D software is a comprehensive AutoCAD-based tool that allows civil engineers, designers, surveyors, and drafters to design, draught, and manage a wide range of civil engineering project types, such as site development and road design.
AutoCAD Civil 3D connects design and production drawing using an industry-proven, dynamic engineering model, dramatically lowering the time it takes to incorporate design changes and assess different scenarios. A single change in one area updates the entire project, allowing you to finish tasks faster, smarter, and more correctly. All members of the team work from the same consistent, up-to-date model, ensuring that they are in sync throughout the project’s many stages.
